Why this exists

The standard way to build an online PDF tool is to accept an upload, process the file on a server and hand back a download link. It is straightforward and it works, but it means a stranger's machine holds your bank statement, your passport scan or your signed contract for as long as they choose to keep it.

Browsers no longer need that. A modern browser can parse a PDF, redraw its pages and write a new file entirely on your device. Doxly is built that way, so the question of what happens to your document on our servers has a simple answer: it never gets there.

What that changes

There is nothing to sign up for, because there is nothing to store against an account. There are no page limits or file size caps sold as a premium tier, because processing costs us nothing. Nothing is watermarked. Once a tool page has loaded, it keeps working with your connection off.

The trade-off is honest: very large files are limited by your device's memory rather than a server farm, and operations that genuinely need a server — OCR, Office file conversion — are not here. We would rather leave them out than pretend.

How it is paid for

Ads. That is the whole business model, and it is why there is no paid tier and no upsell.
